Good to know
EN19 machines well in Condition T and can be induction or flame hardened for extra surface wear resistance.
For larger diameters or parts that take heavy shock loads, EN24 holds its strength deeper into the section and is the safer choice.

EN19 questions
Is EN19 the same as 4140?
They are close equivalents. EN19 (709M40) and AISI 4140 are both chromium-molybdenum steels with very similar composition and are often used interchangeably.
Can you cut EN19 to length?
Yes. Give us the diameter, length and quantity and we cut it before delivery.
Should I use EN19 or EN24?
EN19 suits most shafts, gears and bolts. EN24 has nickel added, which makes it tougher and better for large sections and the most heavily loaded parts.
