Engineering Steels
EN36BSupplier in Johannesburg. Cut to size, delivered nationwide.
EN36B is a nickel-chromium case-hardening steel. After carburising it has a very hard, wear-resistant surface over a tough core, the combination needed for gears and cams that see both wear and shock.

Good to know
Parts are machined first, then carburised and hardened, so the finished surface stays hard while the core resists cracking.

EN36B questions
What is case hardening?
Carbon is diffused into the surface of the finished part, which is then hardened. The result is a hard skin for wear and a tougher core for strength.
