EN3 is a low-carbon mild steel for general engineering work. EN3A is the hot-rolled bar; EN3B is bright drawn, so it comes with a clean finish and closer size tolerance that saves machining.

Good to know

EN3 welds easily and can be case hardened when a wear-resistant surface is needed.

Choose EN3B when the bar will be used close to size, for example for pins and spindles.

What is the difference between EN3A and EN3B?

EN3A is hot rolled and has a black mill-scale finish. EN3B is bright drawn, which gives a clean surface and tighter tolerances.

Is EN3B weldable?

Yes. Its low carbon content makes it easy to weld.
